On October 22, 2025, at approximately 1:40 PM, in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, Ko Tun Win (30 years old), son of U Adaung from Kyauk Pan Du village, was driving a passenger vehicle. He was returning from Rethedaung Township’s Zay Di Pyin village after purchasing basic household goods such as rice, oil, salt, and chili. The vehicle was carrying five passengers, including the driver: Daw Wai Wai Soe (30 years old), Daw Naing Naing Swe (40 years old), Daw Wai Wai Soe’s daughter Ma Khine Myat Mon (3 years old), and Maung Than Htwe (25 years old). They were heading back to Kyauk Pan Du village.

The Arakan Army conducted a search operation at the incident site and pursued those abducted by ARSA. Near the incident location, two of the five passengers, Daw Wai Wai Soe  and Daw Naing Naing Swe, were found shot dead. Daw Wai Wai Soe’s daughter, Ma Khine Myat Mon, was found alive next to her mother’s body.

Subsequently, the driver Ko Tun Win and passenger Maung Than Htwe, who had escaped the attack, were found injured.

The Arakan Army is actively pursuing and clearing out the ARSA terrorist members who ambushed, shot, and killed innocent civilians before fleeing. Efforts are ongoing to ensure the region is free from terrorist threats and to secure the safety of the public.

The Islamic terrorist groups ARSA and RSO continue to threaten the lives, homes, and property of innocent Arakanese people in the Arakan-Bangladesh border region. Therefore, residents in the border areas are urged to avoid traveling alone or in small groups through jungles, mountains, or isolated areas as much as possible. For essential travel, including health-related matters, please inform and coordinate with the nearest Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government administrative and security forces to ensure safety.
