Islamist extremist militant terrorist armed group members ambushed and fired upon Arakan Army members who are performing border security duties on the Arakan-Bangladesh border and one of our border security posts, then retreated and fled back to the Bangladesh side.
December 15, 2025
On December 13, 2025, at 6:30 a.m., approximately 10 Islamist extremist militant terrorist armed group members crossed over from the Bangladesh side and entered a border security post located between border pillars (20/21) in Upper Kyee Kyun, Maungdaw District, on the Arakan-Bangladesh border under the control of the Arakan Army. They carried out a surprise ambush attack, firing small arms including 40 mm (79) for several minutes.
Due to our troops returning fire and fighting back, the said militant terrorist armed group retreated and fled to the vicinity of a BGB border guard post on the Bangladesh side.
Such surprise attacks by ARSA, RSO, and Islamist extremist militant terrorist armed group members — including ambushing civilian populations, killing, abducting, and extorting money — have already occurred many times on numerous occasions.
These acts of crossing over from the Bangladesh side into our Arakan border areas and carrying out surprise and ambush attacks are such that corrupt BGB officers are pretending not to know and are effectively encouraging and supporting the terrorists. This is greatly disturbing border stability. Moreover, it is causing the trust that already exists between us and that we are building to decline, and we are concerned that unwanted consequences will arise.
