Islamic Extremist Militant Terrorist ARSA Group Kidnapped, Tortured, and Killed Some Arakanese People and Abandoned Their Bodies, Found by Arakan Army Security Forces
October 1, 2025
In September 2025, the Islamic extremist militant terrorist group ARSA, aiming to seize the Arakan Army’s border security outposts at Point 601 between border posts 56 and 57 in northern Maungdaw Township, as well as the Done Nyo outpost near Done Nyo Village, infiltrated from their bases in Bangladesh using various methods over time.
While attempting to capture these two security outposts, the terrorist ARSA group kidnapped, tortured, and killed non-Muslim civilians they encountered along the routes to the outposts, silencing them and abandoning their bodies in isolated or sparsely populated areas.
During this period, ten people were reported missing to the civilian administration from nearby villages.
On September 28, 2025, at around 3:00 PM, our security forces, while conducting operations in Maungdaw Township’s border area, discovered six decomposed bodies, reduced to skeletal remains, in a banana grove approximately 770 meters northwest of Upper Inn Chaung Village.
The bodies were found abandoned in four separate locations within the banana grove: one body in each of two locations and two bodies in each of two other locations.
Preliminary assessments suggest these bodies may belong to six of the missing villagers from Tamanthar and Done Nyo villages, killed by the militant terrorist ARSA group attacking our security outposts.
Due to high humidity and the lack of proper burial, the bodies had decomposed, leaving only bones, making identification difficult. Forensic teams, along with families of the missing, are working to identify the remains.
The Arakan Army faces challenges in pursuing ARSA militants who flee into Bangladesh due to cross-border diplomatic constraints but continues to track and eliminate ARSA members within Arakan to ensure regional safety and public security.
The Islamic extremist militant terrorist groups ARSA and RSO threaten the lives, homes, and property of innocent Arakan people along the Arakan-Bangladesh border. Local residents are urged to avoid traveling alone or in small groups in forests or isolated areas. For essential travel, including health-related matters, please report to the nearest Arakan People’s Revolutionary Government administration or security forces before proceeding, as a security precaution.
