Battle News in Arakan on 13, 14 and 15 March 2020

The Burmese racist regime and its war criminals army have been waging a race war against the oppressed peoples of Arakan to sustain and prolong their fascist-colonial rule in Arakan. Civilians are being killed on a daily basic in artillery shelling, multiple rocket launchers (MRLs) firing, Thermobaric Bombs bombardments and rocket strikes from the air, navy and ground. Heavy clashes, beginning on 5 February 2020, around the strategic hilltop post of the Myanmar Army near Mee-Wa village in Paletwa township have now been for the 40 consecutive days of fighting on 15 March 2020. Fierce fighting between the reinforced infantry troops of the Myanmar Army and the special forces of the Arakan Army has broken out in the surrounding areas of Kyauk-Tan, Mont Than Pyin and Pyaing-Tine villages and around the strategic hilltop post of the Myanmar Army near the Mee-Chaung bridge for everyday and it is intensifying day by day. In addition, there are sporadic fighting in Rathedaung, Ponnagyun and Kyauk-Taw townships. The Myanmar Army has simultaneously been launching their ground attacks in the use of both 122 mm and 240 mm truck-mounted MRLs and heavy artillery and their airstrikes with military helicopters and fighter jets in addition to Naval artillery firing to bombard villages along the river bank and in mountainous areas in Arakan and Chin states. In their recent attacks, many houses in the villages were burnt down, some civilians were killed, and many civilians were injured. On the other hand, the Myanmar armed forces are brazenly committing war crimes in their deliberate racist attacks against civilians of Arakan because the whole battalion of the Light Infantry Battalion No.7 under the command of the 77th Light Infantry Division of Myanmar Army has been eliminated as well as the Light Infantry Battalion No.374 based in Kyauk-Taw under the command of the 9th Military Operations Command (MOC-9) is also suffering heavy losses in the battlefields. The Arakan Army was able to thrash those enemy columns amidst heavy coordinate assaults of artillery shelling, multiple rocket launchers (MRLs) firing, Thermobaric Bombs bombardments and rocket strikes from both the air and ground. On 13 March 2020, the Arakan Army cut and hit 18 Military vehicles which came to reinforce along Marm Brya - Kyauk Taw - Mrauk U highway. Three Military trucks were totally destroyed and there were enemy casualties and injuries. After receiving our attack, the enemy Burmese troops have intentionally fired and shelled the surrounding villages along the highway based on racial hatred and Burmese-fascism. Consequently, some civilians were killed and some were injured by the racist attacks of the Myanmar army. In particular, an old woman, who was a patient watcher, and a child in the Hospital of Tein Nyo Village Track in Mrauk-U township were killed after the Myanmar army’s artillery shells hit the hospital. During the racially motivated attacks and bombings of the Myanmar Army from the increased airstrikes on 13, 14 and 15 March 2020, at least 20 civilians were killed and many were injured. Our Arrakha soldiers and heroes who bravely fought for their fatherland of Arakan and their fellow people by scarifying their lives during the battles are proudly honoured and greatly recorded. We are going to retaliate and crack down on the Burmese fascist-colonialism and the Burmese battalions that are deliberately attacking and killing civilians of Arakan. Fighting can be escalated in the coming days as the Myanmar Army are reinforcing more troops and ammunitions. Info-Desk Arakan Army
