Objection statement to the unwarranted accusation against our organization by the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Service on 9 July 2020 because the Myanmar Army was responsible for the land-mine detonation of Nga-Pyaw-Chaung bridge

The Myanmar Army has been carrying out mass offensive assaults against the United League of Arakan / Arakan Army (ULA/AA) for more than one and half year.

Similarly, they have cunningly been attacking us on a daily basis with the aim to imperil our organization to be faced political crisis. The government of Myanmar has also been collaborating with its military to conduct their scorched-earth campaign against civilians of Arakan.

Especially, the Myanmar Army, Myanmar state-owned media and the government’s mouthpiece Burmese news outlets are waging their coordinated cyber war by spreading false information, fabricated news and unsubstantiated claims to discredit our organization and to mislead the international community.

On 9 July 2020, the Myanmar military reported in its owned media stating the unwarranted accusation that “our organization had planted and detonated a mine on the Nga-Pyaw-Chaung Bridge on Taung Pyo to Maungdaw Road.”

We categorically reject their one-sided allegation because our organization has nothing to do with it.

The world’s longest internet shutdown continues to be imposed amid international pressure is mounting, and they have been launching offensive attacks and conducting the ethnic cleansing campaign under the banner of clearance operations. Their heinous act is a sham attempt to shift the blame on another organization in order to cover up their war crimes.

According to ground reports, the Myanmar Army themselves detonated Nga-Pyaw-Chaung bridge and for them it was always business as usual to scapegoat our organization for their sabotage acts. According to the villagers in the area, it was the handiwork of the Myanmar Army.
